Home for the holidays

I have been home in Seattle for the last two weeks. Christmas was great, I was able to see everyone in the family and spend time with everyone. I do miss the big family atmosphere that I get when I am home for the holidays.
My first semester did not end as well as I would have liked but I ended with a 2.4 GPA. I will do better next semester because I have fewer classes and more OT oriented which I will like. I am going back to Tulsa for the new year and to make sure everything is in line for school. I need to get some things in order before returning to school.
I hope everyone had a great holiday and got everything they wanted, I know I did.

Another long week

I added a random picture from Halloween of Howard and I because I like it.
So glad this school week is over tomorrow. Monday I had two 1 page papers due, Wednesday Anatomy exam, and tomorrow anatomy lab final! I did not do well on the anatomy exam but I know the lab final will keep my grade up and I will pretty much be guaranteed a C which is passing. I can still get above a 2.5 GPA if I get a B in my other classes. I know I can do this because my confidence has not been hit to hard. I did the calculations and I can get an 11/100 on my anatomy final and still get a C. Figuring this out helps me not stress as much. This allows me to focus on my other finals to guarantee my B's. I will let you guys know as my tests come what I get, be praying!

On a different note Lindsey and I went Christmas shopping yesterday and got some good stuff. Not entirely done with my shopping but only have a few more people to get present for. Lets see what else can I update you on.... Abbie is going to the vet for her annual checkup on Sat. I know exciting right ;) Howard is coming this weekend and he is going to help with the huge toys for tots our church does every year! There are 3500 kids signed up, I think. He is actually doing the Spanish speaking toys for tots on Saturday which, I think is really cool. I want to help but I have two finals on Monday and need all the extra study time. I know the life isn't to exciting but I actually enjoy typing and keeping people updated even if it is not exciting. Next week should be more exciting because I will be heading to Seattle on Wednesday and I will be finished with my first semester of OT school !!!!!!!! Man will that feel good. Love you all tons and will talk soon.

Has been a busy week

This week has gone by fast but was very busy. I had a test on Tuesday which, I got an 85!! It was an anatomy test over all 50 muscles of the upper extremity. I studied a lot for it over the thanksgiving break so I think I deserved the grade I got. I always hope for more but I am happy. I also finished and turned in a 5 page paper on Friday and I just finished a couple of 1 page papers due on Monday. I also have another anatomy exam on Wednesday. Then the week after I have 4 finals in three days!!! AHHH! I just have to take it one test/day at a time. I know I will be just fine and I will be going on to the next semester hopefully with a 2.5 or above GPA. We have to keep a 2.5 average to stay in the program. I am not worried because next semester I will have a couple of 'easier' classes so I can hopefully get some A's to boost my GPA up so I don't have to worry. I am just studying this weekend for the up coming exams but just wanted to say a little hello. Life isn't to exciting right now but it is busy.

Ugh...

Today is my long day in class 8-4 straight with an hour break for lunch, not fun! But today we had a couple of happy points. The first was our anatomy lecture was cancelled, yeah and so we moved up my concepts class and got out at 3pm. Then she told us we weren't going to have class in the morning, which we usually do! That means I get to study and feel more confident going into to my anatomy upper extremity muscle test at 12:30pm. So at least Monday was a little brighter. I am just taking a little study break right now. I am feeling pretty good about my muscle just a couple of origins (where the muscles start, if you didn't already know) are messing me up but I will get them before the test. Then tomorrow night I am writing my five page paper and not stopping until I have it done ;) Anyway thought I would give you an oh so exciting update on my boring school life. Not much to it but there is a countdown for my departure for Seattle: 16 days!

Thanksgiving week is over :(

These are some pictures from Thanksgiving. I had a great week of no school but at the same time I had to study. Nonetheless I enjoyed my time with the Vernon family. I wasn't able to go to the farm because studies come first but I did get to see three movies and get a little bit of shopping in. We saw Madagascar 2 and Bolt with the kiddos and then Nancy and I saw Australia. Australia was a long movie but wonderful. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I got Jackson a new fleece sleeper. It is a 12 month size and fits him almost perfectly. He is huge!! I have an exam on Tuesday, a five page paper due on Friday, two 1-page papers due next Monday, an anatomy exam next Thursday and then finals the 15th-17th and then I go home! Will keep you updated of my stressful weeks to come. The first semester is almost over!!

Almost Thanksgiving

I can't believe it is Wednesday and I am not in school at 2:15pm! It's great! I am still studying but at least I don't have class until Monday. I am in Fort Smith for Thanksgiving, we always have fun with Howard's family especially with his niece, Reagan and nephew, Reis. Reagan is 3 and Reis is 7. Reagan calls me Enemy, well that is what it sounds like she is so adorable. Reis loves to wear me out with soccer and games. Of course, I like it even though they wear me out:) Howard's mom, Nancy, is already cooking for tomorrow's meal. Here, we usually eat in the late afternoon around 3pm and then lounge around and play some games. After that we take the kiddos for a movie. I enjoy it, it's different from our family traditions but the kids enjoy it a lot. This year there are a couple of movies out to take them to. Either Bolt or Madagascar 2. We will let them choose.

I think on Friday we are going to go to the farm which is always the best part! It is so beautiful, I will have to take some pictures and post them so everyone can see. They have a really pretty view of the valley. Their farm house is on top of a pretty big hill. Hopefully I can ride the horse again! We will see. Abbie loves going out to the farm she can run forever but I never let her out of my site. I am not sure why I guess I just don't know what is out in the long grass. I will let you know how my predictions work out. Love you and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Weekend

I had a good weekend. Howard came into town and we pretty much just had a laid back weekend. Friday I did some studying, Saturday slept in and went to the Tulsa football game, which we won. The game was against Tulane, we were winning by so much we left at half time. Then we watched the OU vs. Texas Tech game on Howard's brothers flat TV. I am glad we didn't pay to go to a blow out game. My friend did go and paid $240 for two tickets, we were glad we didn't have to pay that for the game. Howard went to the TU b-ball game but I met up with Lindsey and Jackson to study. He is getting so huge and like a big boy!! Lindsey trimmed his hair and it looks so cute, he is a little man.

Sunday we went to church, I helped with the 5 year-old class room during the first session and then met with Howard for the 11 service. I really love my church, I enjoy everything about it. I looked for so long to find a church and we found this one through one of Howard's friend about a year ago. I have loved it ever since!

Today, I had class all day but tomorrow after class is the beginning of Thanksgiving break!! I am going to Howard's family for the week. I invited Lindsey and Jackson but she has a lot to do with school because of her laptop getting stolen.

I have calculated my grades so far for this semester and what I need to get for passing grades. I don't have any problems in classes just a few that I may get a C instead of a B. I am hoping that doesn't happen. The lowest GPA I may get would be a 2.4 but I am hoping for a 2.8. I will let you guys now but I won't know for sure until after I am already in Washington for about a week. Tonight I will be studying and possibly a movie, maybe. But nothing to exciting, I might even clean my room;)

Pretty good Friday

Hello again-
Today I went to my clinical site for my school. It is a pediatric outpatient clinic and I love it there. They get to work with so many different types of children ranging from just needing handwriting skills improved to those with autism ad downsyndrome. I mean who awesome would it be to get paid well for playing with kids all day! That is my kind of job! Hopefully in three years I will be hired into a place like this.

I took two tests on Wednesday, Anatomy and Human Movement. Anatomy didn't do so hot but I have a lot of other things in that class to help my grade in the passing range. Human movement I was one question from my B but I like this class. I like the fact that it is not pure memorizing. You actually have to apply your knowledge and think through the questions. I enjoy that part if it, I actually do better. I don't have any doubts about moving on to next semester but some of my other OT friends may not.

There are 12 of us in Tulsa and there may possible be up to 5 not coming back either because of grades or other personal conflicts. It makes me so sad because all of them would make great therapists but if you can't pass a class you can't show how great you would be. There are 10 girls and only 1 guy here on the Tulsa campus. We have two campuses of students OKC and Tulsa. It kind of weird at first because most of our professors are in OKC and we do lectures through telecommunication. So that means they are on a falt screen TV and if we have questions we have to press a microphone. The camera then zooms in on us and our voices are carried over. I am used to it now but we still have techinical difficulties sometimes.

Howard and I plus some friends from school might go to the OU vs. Texas Tech game tomorrow but we haven't decided because we don't have the tickets yet. But we will have to see what happens. It would be a great game to go see. Will let you know if we go. This is it for now.
Remember to become a follower of my blog so I can know who is reading. Thanks. Love you all

Continuation

So what has been going on in my life? In one word school and lots of it. I am very happy I decided to go back and I know it will be worth the struggle when I am finished. I can't believe this semester is almost over! Thanksgiving is in one week then I only have 3 weeks of school left and one of those weeks is finals week.

I am doing fine in my classes, I could always do better but I am passing all of them, which is good since some of my friends are not. The Occupational Therapy program is very hard actually it is ranked #43 in the country. I am just blessed to be given the chance to prove what I can achieve. I can't wait until Christmas so I can go home and have a break from all the stresses of school!

On a fun note I have been to two concerts in the last month, Carrie Underwood and Coldplay! They were both very awesome. I went to Carrie Underwood with a new friend from school, Rachel, and Howard and I went to Coldplay in OKC. Howard and I just celebrated our 4th year as a couple and so that is one reason why we went to the concert. I loved going with him, we had a blast. The picture above is actually at the Coldplay concert.

That is all for now because I must study some for an Anatomy 'cadaver' quiz tomorrow. I will have to tell you about that lab later. Here are some pictures to enjoy. Love all

First one

Hello everyone, I have decided to start a blog about what I have been doing since I am horrible at calling my loved ones. I think this will help me tell everyone in one step rather than 100's ;) I will be able to update in one simple step. So I will keep you all posted.
